DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Oskar Klimas (ACK Cyfronet AGH)\, Klemens Noga (ACC
Cyfronet AGH)\n\nThe training focuses on running and analyzing the scalabi
lity tests. \nScalability tests allow to tune the amount of resources for
the job being run. During this training you will learn what scalability t
ests are and how to interpret their results. Then how to apply that knowle
dge to your calculations.\nLevel\n\nTarget audience\nTraining is intended
for users who started running their own calculations and need to learn how
to give the right amount of resources to the job at ACC Cyfronet AGH. \n
Agenda\n\nIntranode and perfect scaling\, and how it is unattainable in re
al calculations\,\nMultinode scaling and parallelization overhead\,\nHands
-on scaling tests\,\nCPU vs GPU power and multiple GPU scaling\,\nReal lif
e case: specific Ares to Athena transfer issue analyzed\n\nRequirements\nW
e recommend doing this training after familiarizing with the contents of R
unning Calculations the HPC way training provided at ACC Cyfronet AGH. \
 nTechnical prerequisites:\n\nPLGrid account at https://portal.plgrid.pl/\
 ;\nan active affiliation at https://portal.plgrid.pl/users/affiliations\;
 \naccess to Ares supercomputer\,\n\nif a participant has the access\, no f
urther action\,\nif not\, one need to apply at https://portal.plgrid.pl/s
ervices/103 and the access will be granted when joining the team (see belo
w)\,\nparticipants are not required to have their own grant allocations\;\
 n\n\naccess to JupyterHubHPC\, apply at https://portal.plgrid.pl/services/
110\;\nmembership in the plggtraining team - the activation link will be s
ent after registration.\n\nThe above prerequisites are required to activel
y participate in the hands-on exercises. In case of no active affiliation o
r PLGrid account\, please contact the organisers at training@cyfronet.pl.
\nParticipants' computers should be equipped with software that allows S
SH connections. On Windows\, it is recommended to use Windows Terminal (no
t to be confused with Powershell after checking if OpenSSH is installed (r
un ssh -V in the terminal). We advise against using Putty.\nAt 10:30 am on
23rd February 2026\, a Dry-run will be held. Participants are invited to
come to learn how to log in to Ares supercomputer before the training and
resolve any problems with the Training Team.\nVenue\nThe workshop will be
conducted online on the Zoom platform. The meeting link will be sent to re
 gistered participants.\nLanguage\nEnglish\nDuration\n3 hours\nRegistration
\nThe Registration and the Waiting list close automatically after 17th Feb
ruary 2026. The Registration may close prematurely if the limit number of
participants is hit beforehand\, but the Waiting List will be available un
 til the deadline above.\n\n\nhttps://events.plgrid.pl/event/111/
