DESCRIPTION:\nFollowing the success of the Porto edition\, the EPICURE Hac
 kathon returns for its fifth edition. Building on EPICURE’s experience s
 upporting around 240 projects across Europe\, this three-day\, hands-on ev
 ent brings together developers\, researchers\, and HPC and AI users to tac
 kle real performance challenges on Europe’s most powerful supercomputers
 .\nThis edition broadens its scope to cover both traditional scientific co
 mputing and AI workloads\, with a strong focus on code optimisation\, prof
 iling\, and scaling across CPUs and GPUs. Whether you want to speed up you
 r simulation code or make your machine learning pipeline run efficiently a
 t scale\, this hackathon is for you.\nFrom performance challenge to practi
 cal progress\nModern scientific and AI applications increasingly depend on
  complex computing environments. Achieving good performance requires more 
 than access to powerful hardware: applications must be carefully profiled\
 , adapted and optimised for the architectures on which they run.\nDuring t
 he EPICURE Hackathon\, teams will have the opportunity to:\n\nAnalyse the 
 performance of their applications and workflows\;\nIdentify computational\
 , memory\, communication and data movement bottlenecks\;\nImprove CPU\, GP
 U and multi-node performance\;\nOptimise AI training and inference workloa
 ds\;\nExplore parallelisation\, profiling and scaling techniques\;\nReceiv
 e targeted guidance from experienced HPC and AI specialists\;\nExchange kn
 owledge with other teams from across the European computing community.\n\n
  \nThe emphasis is on practical work\, measurable progress and solutions 
 that teams can continue developing after the event.\nBring your own code\n
 Bring your own application or AI workload and work on the challenges that 
 matter to your team.\nTogether with EPICURE mentors\, participants will de
 fine clear technical objectives and work on topics such as profiling\, par
 allelisation\, GPU acceleration\, memory optimisation\, data pipelines\, d
 istributed training and application scaling.\nProjects may include:\n\nSci
 entific and engineering applications\;\nSimulation and modelling codes\;\n
 Machine learning and deep learning workloads\;\nAI training and inference 
 pipelines\;\nHybrid HPC and AI workflows\;\nData-intensive scientific appl
 ications\;\nCode porting and performance optimisation.\n\nMentoring starts
  before the hackathon\nThis edition\, collaboration begins before the main
  event.\nOne week before the hackathon\, selected teams will join an onlin
 e kick-off and matchmaking session. This initial meeting will give partici
 pants the opportunity to:\n\nMeet their assigned mentors\;\nIntroduce thei
 r projects and technical challenges\;\nConnect with fellow participants\;\
 nDiscuss objectives and expected outcomes\;\nShare relevant technical info
 rmation\;\nIdentify initial bottlenecks and priorities\;\nAgree on the fir
 st steps before the hands-on sessions begin.\n\n \nStarting the mentoring
  process earlier will allow teams and mentors to arrive at the hackathon w
 ith a shared understanding of the project and a clearer technical plan\, m
 aking the three event days more focused and productive.\nThe hackathon jou
 rney\n\n\n\n\n\nOne week before\n\n\nOnline team and mentor kick-off\, pro
 ject introductions and initial technical assessment.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
 7–9 October\n\n\nIntensive hands-on optimisation\, technical sessions\, 
 mentor consultations and collaborative problem-solving.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\
 n\nFinal session\n\n\nTeams present their progress\, technical findings\, 
 implemented improvements and recommended next steps.\n\n\n\n\n \nWhy join
