 Cyfronet AGH)\n\nThe training covers the basic use case for a supercompute
 r.\nDuring this training\, you will learn many useful Linux commands that 
 will allow you to prepare and run a job on a Supercomputer. You will famil
 iarize yourself with the Linux toolset to make your work on the supercompu
 ter more convenient. The training covers basic Bash scripting.\nThis train
 ing was previously known as the "First Time on a supercomputer"\, but due 
 to confusion about the title\, we decided to change the name. This trainin
 g does not provide an in-depth description on how to run a job on HPC. Tha
 t is covered by Running Calculations the HPC way training provided at ACC
  Cyfronet AGH. \nLevel\n\nTarget audience\nTraining is intended for people
  who are familiar with the basics of Linux and haven't used a supercompute
 r yet. \nAgenda\n\nEnvironmental variables and storage spaces - learning 
 distinct features of the supercomputer\; variables\, env vars\, export\, $
 HOME\, $SCRATCH\, $USER\, $PLG_GROUPS_STORAGE\, bc\;\nfile permissions - u
 nderstanding ownership of files: ls -l\, chmod\;\ntransferring files to an
 d from the supercomputer: tar\, scp\;\nrunning a job and viewing results: 
 sbatch\, find\, grep\, mc\;\nscripting in bash: for\, sleep\, date\, seq\,
  subshell $()\;\nQ&A (15 mins)\n\nRequirements\nWe recommend doing this tr
 aining after familiarizing with the contents of Absolute Basics of Linux
  training provided at ACC Cyfronet AGH.\nSummary of prerequisites\n\nno a
 ccount required\,\nattending the Dry-run\,\ncomputer equipped with SSH con
 nection.\n\nDry-run\n\nOn 12th Oct 2026 at 10:00-11:00 CEST\, a Dry-run wi
 ll be held. Attendance will be marked based on Zoom participant list. \nPa
 rticipants will learn how to log in to the Ares supercomputer before the t
 raining and resolve any problems with the Training Team. \nIn case you can
 not come to the dry-run\, please inform us directly at training@cyfronet.p
 l\, otherwise your registration will be cancelled.\n\nSSH connection\nPart
 icipants' computers should be equipped with software that allows SSH conne
 ctions. On Windows\, it is recommended to use Windows Terminal (not to be 
 confused with Powershell after checking if OpenSSH is installed (run ssh -
 V in the terminal). We advise against using Putty.\nVenue\nThe workshop wi
 ll be conducted online on the Zoom platform. The meeting link will be sent
  to registered participants.\nLanguage\nEnglish\nDuration\n3.5 hours\nRegi
 stration and eligibility\nThe Registration and the Waiting list close auto
 matically at 23:59 CEST on 9th Oct 2026. The Registration may close premat
