DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Oskar Klimas (ACK Cyfronet AGH)\, Klemens Noga (ACC
Cyfronet AGH)\n\nThe training focuses on running and monitoring jobs on th
e supercomputers.\nThis is the most important training for a novice user o
f ACC Cyfronet AGH. The main goal is to showcase the general flow of doing
calculations on a supercomputer and present how to configure a job tuned
to the problem size and type.\nLevel\n\nTarget audience\nTraining is inten
ded for new users who just created an account\, ran an example job and wan
t to start running their own calculations at ACC Cyfronet AGH. \nAgenda\n\
 nLecture part:\n\nwhat is HPC\,\nqueueing system Slurm\,\nstorage spaces a
t Cyfronet and how to use them\,\nresource limits\;\n\n\noverview of the s
batch options used to run jobs\,\nmodules or how to use software on the su
 percomputer\,\njob monitoring in practice\,\nhands-on job running\,\nQ&A (
15 min)\n\nRequirements\nWe recommend participating in this training after
completing Bash in HPC training provided at ACC Cyfronet AGH. \nSummary o
 f prerequisites\n\nPLGrid account\,\nactive affiliation\,\naccepting invit
ation to resources at least a day before training starts\,\nattending the
 Dry-run\,\ncomputer equipped with SSH connection.\n\nPLGrid Account\nSpeci
fy your PLGrid username in the registration form. If you don't have an acc
ount\, please follow one of our guides: * https://guide.plgrid.pl/en/porta
 l-for-science/profile\,* https://guide.plgrid.pl/en/portal-for-business/ac
count.\nAffiliation\n\nCheck status or activate at https://portal.plgrid.p
 l/users/affiliations. \nAny researcher affiliated with a Polish academic o
r scientific institution can access these resources free of charge. The pr
ocess to obtain an affiliation is fast and can be done through PLGrid Port
al alone. \nFor participants from industry\, business\, and commercial ent
ities without an active commercial affiliation\, to speed up the activatio
n process\, please contact us at training@cyfronet.pl. We will grant you a
short-lived affiliation for training purposes.\nThis course is co-funded
by the European Union. Therefore\, the course is open for participants fro
m academia\, industry\, and public administration from the Member States (
MS) of the European Union (EU) and Associated/Other Countries to the Horiz
on Europe programme.\nIn case you have problems\, obtaining an affiliation
 \, please contact the organizers at training@cyfronet.pl. \n\nInvitation t
o resources\n\nCouple of days before the training\, Training Team will be
sending invitations to resources in PLGrid Portal at https://portal.plgrid
.pl/training_invitations.\nAccepting the invitation allows users to use th
e resources of the training grant. \nMake sure to activate all the require
d services too (they are listed on the page of the invitation). Use "parti
cipation in a training" as motivation if need be.\n\nDry-run\n\nOn 26th Oc
 t 2026 at 10:00-11:00 CET\, a Dry-run will be held. Attendance will be mar
ked based on Zoom participant list. \nParticipants will learn how to log i
n to the Ares supercomputer before the training and resolve any problems w
ith the Training Team. \nIn case you cannot come to the dry-run\, please i
nform us directly at training@cyfronet.pl\, otherwise your registration wi
ll be cancelled. \nPlease attend the dry-run even if your affiliation is n
ot active.\n\nSSH connection\nParticipants' computers should be equipped w
ith software that allows SSH connections. On Windows\, it is recommended t
o use Windows Terminal (not to be confused with Powershell after checking
if OpenSSH is installed (run ssh -V in the terminal). We advise against us
