DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Klemens Noga (ACC Cyfronet AGH)\, Oskar Klimas (ACK
Cyfronet AGH)\n\nThe training focuses on running and analyzing the scalabi
lity tests.\nScalability tests allow to tune the amount of resources for t
he job being run. During this training you will learn what scalability tes
ts are and how to interpret their results. Then how to apply that knowledg
e to your calculations.\nLevel\n\nTarget audience\nTraining is intended fo
r users who started running their own calculations and need to learn how t
o give the right amount of resources to the job at ACC Cyfronet AGH. \nAg
enda\n\nChasing perfect scaling using embarrassingly parallel code\,\nmult
inode scaling and parallelization overhead\,\nhands-on scaling tests:\n\nP
 ython simple examples\,\nGROMACS scaling\,\nDo It Yourself exercise\;\n\n\
nCPU vs GPU power and multiple GPU scaling\,\nreal life case: specific Are
 s to Athena transfer issue analyzed\,\nQ&A (15 min)\n\nRequirements\nWe re
commend participating in this training after completing Running Calculatio
ns the HPC way training provided at ACC Cyfronet AGH. \nSummary of prerequ
 isites\n\nPLGrid account\,\nactive affiliation\,\naccepting invitation to
resources at least a day before training starts\,\nattending the Dry-run\,
 \ncomputer equipped with SSH connection.\n\nPLGrid Account\nSpecify your P
LGrid username in the registration form. If you don't have an account\, pl
ease follow one of our guides: * https://guide.plgrid.pl/en/portal-for-sci
 ence/profile\,* https://guide.plgrid.pl/en/portal-for-business/account.\nA
ffiliation\n\nCheck status or activate at https://portal.plgrid.pl/users/a
ffiliations. \nAny researcher affiliated with a Polish academic or scienti
fic institution can access these resources free of charge. The process to
obtain an affiliation is fast and can be done through PLGrid Portal alone.
\nFor participants from industry\, business\, and commercial entities wit
hout an active commercial affiliation\, to speed up the activation process
\, please contact us at training@cyfronet.pl. We will grant you a short-li
ved affiliation for training purposes.\nThis course is co-funded by the Eu
ropean Union. Therefore\, the course is open for participants from academi
a\, industry\, and public administration from the Member States (MS) of th
e European Union (EU) and Associated/Other Countries to the Horizon Europe
programme.\nIn case you have problems\, obtaining an affiliation\, please
contact the organizers at training@cyfronet.pl. \n\nInvitation to resourc
es\n\nCouple of days before the training\, Training Team will be sending i
nvitations to resources in PLGrid Portal at https://portal.plgrid.pl/train
ing_invitations.\nAccepting the invitation allows users to use the resourc
es of the training grant. \nMake sure to activate all the required service
s too (they are listed on the page of the invitation). Use "participation
in a training" as motivation if need be.\n\nDry-run\n\nOn 26th Oct 2026 at
10:00-11:00 CET\, a Dry-run will be held. Attendance will be marked based
on Zoom participant list. \nParticipants will learn how to log in to the
Ares supercomputer before the training and resolve any problems with the T
raining Team. \nIn case you cannot come to the dry-run\, please inform us
directly at training@cyfronet.pl\, otherwise your registration will be can
celled. \nPlease attend the dry-run even if your affiliation is not active
.\n\nSSH connection\nParticipants' computers should be equipped with softw
are that allows SSH connections. On Windows\, it is recommended to use Win
dows Terminal (not to be confused with Powershell after checking if OpenSS
H is installed (run ssh -V in the terminal). We advise against using Putty
.\nVenue\nThe workshop will be conducted online on the Zoom platform. The
meeting link will be sent to registered participants.\nLanguage\nEnglish\n
 Duration\n3 hours 15 minutes\nRegistration and eligibility\nThe Registrati
on and the Waiting list close automatically at 23:59 CEST on 22nd Oct 2026
. The Registration may close prematurely if the limit number of participan
ts is hit beforehand\, but the Waiting List will be available until the de
adline above.\nPlease use your institution's e-mail address. Registrations
using generic or private email addresses cannot be accepted. At that e-ma
il address\, you will be contacted with further information.\nThis course
is co-funded by the European Union. Therefore\, the course is open for par
ticipants from academia\, industry\, and public administration from the Me
mber States (MS) of the European Union (EU) and Associated/Other Countries
