Klemens Noga (ACC Cyfronet AGH), Oskar Klimas (ACK Cyfronet AGH)
Description

The training focuses on accessing resources available at ACK Cyfronet AGH.

The main goal of the training is to bring new tools into the hands of the users. While we do not provide a GUI access to the login node, there are several tools that allow some visual feedback or at least prettify the interface. These include Visual Studio Code, JupyterHub and our own application - pro-viz. For most users, there is a jump from Windows' mouse-focused GUI to the keyboard-focused CLI of Linux. With this training, we aim to bridge that gap.

Agenda

  1. SSH access to command line interface of our clusters,
  2. Visual Studio Code as text editor, scp interface and code development tool,
  3. pro-viz service as desktop for GUI applications,
  4. making a custom virtual environment for Python (for Jupyter),
  5. JupyterHubHPC for Jupyter notebooks with custom venv,
