Description

Open science is becoming an important aspect in the scientific development of universities. Open science, as defined, means unlimited access, processing, downloading, dissemination of articles and scientific research, and sharing them free of charge. The aim of the research described in this work was to present experiences related to the implementation of the open access policy at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin. An analysis of open access articles published over the years was performed and it was found that this method of disseminating scientific research is growing. The state of knowledge about open access after the introduction of legal acts related to the open access policy was analyzed. To collect data, article analysis methods and case studies were used, the application of which allowed to describe the topic of open access to science from the perspective of implementing such a policy at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin. After the analysis, it can be concluded that the main problem in implementing open science at universities is insufficient knowledge of the topic by employees and doctoral students. The conclusion here is that the number of training courses for scientific and teaching staff on open science should be increased, which will allow them to increase their awareness, which will translate into increased citation and dissemination of publications and research data.
